World's largest capacity, 1 TB HDD for laptop computers to be released

Last January at GIGAZINEHitachi announced HDD for notebook PC of 500 GB which corresponds to industry's largest capacity, But it became clear that 1 TB model realizing twice the capacity was released.

Last DecemberToshiba announced the 512 GB model SSDTherefore, HDD is a recording medium for notebook PC which continued to be overtaken not only to transfer speed but also recording capacity to SSD, HDD will return to the top in terms of recording capacity.

According to Western Digital's official page, it seems that 2.5 "HDD" WD Scorpio Blue "series which newly realized the maximum 1 TB of recording capacity will be released.

The lineup is 1 TB, 750 GB, 500 GB, 400 GB, 320 GB, 250 GB, 160 GB, 120 GB and 80 GB, and 3 Gbps S-ATA is adopted as a connection interface. Moreover, in addition to realizing quietness and low power consumption, it also has a function to emergency evacuate the reading head when a sudden shock is applied to the main body.

By the way, the 1 TB model and the 750 GB model require that the thickness of the HDD body be 12.5 mm instead of the usual 9.5 mm, so be careful when changing it.
