The Xbox on PC backward compatibility feature was released as an early release on July 22, 2026. Initially, the following four titles are compatible, allowing players to enjoy them on Windows PCs and compatible portable gaming PCs.

The four titles listed above are available for purchase on Windows PCs. They are also included in all Xbox Game Pass plans, so subscribers can play them immediately. Additionally, those who own a license for the console version of the games can use them on portable gaming PCs and PCs at no extra cost.
Each title retains its original elements while incorporating enhanced features for Windows PCs, allowing users to freely change graphics settings, windowed mode, language settings, and sound settings. Furthermore, the 'Achievements' feature, a frequently requested feature from the community, is planned for future updates to older titles.
Microsoft stated, 'This is the first step in a larger initiative to preserve past Xbox titles and, over time, bring them to Windows PCs.'
It has also been reported that Microsoft is developing a feature to digitize disc-based titles. Technology media outlet Tom's Hardware commented that 'Microsoft's emphasis on preserving older titles is particularly noteworthy given the recent backlash against Sony for eliminating disc versions of games on its next-generation consoles and closing some online stores.'
