Blizzard Entertainment , a game maker that develops popular game series such as Diablo and Overwatch, announced that it will distribute Overwatch 2 not only on its own game client, Battle.net , but also on Steam from August 10, 2023. On July 19th, 2023 local time, Blizzard Entertainment will be launching third-party PC games in addition to its own game client, Battle.net, to make it easier for players around the world to access and play their games. We announced that we will also distribute our own titles on the platform Steam.

Along with this, from August 10, 2023 local time, Overwatch 2, one of Blizzard Entertainment's popular titles, will also be distributed on Steam. At the time of writing, the PC version of Overwatch 2 can only be played from Battle.net.

Users already playing Overwatch 2 on Battle.net will not be affected, but users who play the Steam version will also need to connect to their Battle.net account. In other words, even if you play the Steam version, a Battle.net account is required. Blizzard Entertainment explains that 'cross-platform play is possible by connecting to a Battle.net account.'
