According to cybersecurity firm Malwarebytes, there are fraudulent websites that try to deceive consumers with slogans such as 'Be the first to get GTA 6' and 'Purchase VIP early access.' These sites are designed to create a sense of luxury and exclusivity, and they seem to use official logos and images to lure people in.

Furthermore, we have observed instances where games are being sold in a way that makes it appear as if they are being sold in combination with celebrities and well-known products such as MrBeast and LEGO.

Malwarebytes pointed out, 'I'm amazed every time I learn about a scam that has succeeded. There's always at least one person who falls for it. They're either too young, or too inexperienced and lacking sufficient knowledge, and they want to get their hands on the game before anyone else. There are so many people eagerly awaiting GTA 6, but remember this: and don't lose your composure. There is no early access for Grand Theft Auto 6 at this time.'
Malwarebytes has confirmed that in some cases, early access was priced at $250 (approximately 40,000 yen). The regular retail prices are 9,800 yen for the 'Standard Edition' and 12,280 yen for the 'Ultimate Edition.'

The scam sites demand payment in cryptocurrency and, after payment, instruct users to enter a transaction ID to 'deactivate' the download. The scam sites display QR codes, payment confirmation messages, and large 'DOWNLOAD' buttons, but clicking the button yields nothing. In some cases, users may be tricked into downloading malware-infused software disguised as an initial build.

Furthermore, unlike credit cards, cryptocurrencies are not guaranteed by any company, so once you've made a payment, it's virtually impossible to get it back.
Malwarebytes stated, 'The scarcity and urgency inherent in phrases like 'before anyone else,' 'exclusive,' and 'releasing in 1 minute' dulls people's caution. GTA 6 is being released 13 years after its predecessor, and coupled with repeated delays and years of speculation, millions of fans are eagerly awaiting any news, leaks, previews, or early access opportunities. Scammers are simply taking advantage of that excitement.'
