While Steam Machine's hardware performance is about six times that of Steam Deck, its Verified program requirements are almost the same as Steam Deck's, emphasizing a 'right-out-of-the-box user experience.'
For example, it checks things like 'Does the default controller setting work smoothly?' and 'Does the default graphics setting provide good performance?'. As of the time of writing, tens of thousands of Steam titles have completed the Steam Deck Verified program review.
Simply put, if a game already works fine on Steam Deck, it should also work fine on Steam Machine without any special setup. However, games that don't run well on Steam Deck due to CPU or GPU performance issues may work fine on Steam Machine. The Steam Frame Verified program, like the Steam Deck Verified program, focuses on the 'experience you get right out of the box in standalone mode.'
