In February 2025, Spotify partnered with ElevenLabs to begin distributing audiobooks narrated using AI voice technology. This allows authors to download file packages from ElevenLabs, access Spotify's audiobook distribution service, Findaway Voices, and publish their audiobooks.
According to the IT news site TechCrunch, this announcement makes ElevenLabs available through Spotify for Authors. Since Spotify for Authors partners not only with Spotify but also with Google Play Books, audiobooks created with ElevenLabs technology will be able to reach a wider audience.

Furthermore, Spotify plans to expand its 'Spotify for Authors' platform to support 10 languages, including French, Canadian French, German, Dutch, Latin American Spanish, Swedish, Finnish, Icelandic, Danish, and Norwegian.

TechCrunch reports that Apple is further expanding its Audiobook+ plan, increasing the listening limit, and plans to add new options for students and families in the future.

In addition, Spotify plans to expand its AI capabilities by the summer of 2026 to include audiobooks, allowing users to create podcast and music playlists using natural language prompts.
Spotify has acquired over 1 million subscribers to its Audiobook+ plan, and its annual recurring revenue from the Audiobook+ plan is expected to reach $100 million (approximately 15.6 billion yen). Through these efforts, Spotify claims to have succeeded in increasing listening time by 60% year-on-year. Spotify also reports that more than half of its audiobook listeners will start using the service from 2025 onwards.
