Unlike Instagram, which focuses on polished and edited content, Instants is literally designed for posting 'instant, everyday snapshots.'

According to TechCrunch, Instants allows you to take photos with a single tap, but it doesn't offer any editing other than adding text. The app doesn't support uploading from your camera roll; only photos taken with the app's camera can be shared.

Instagram had already been testing Instants in Spain and Italy. According to Instagram, Instants can be accessed through the Instagram app, and followers will be shared across platforms.

An Instagram spokesperson commented, 'We are testing an app called Instants to make it easier for people to connect with their friends. Instants lets you easily share photos and videos on the spot. We are prototyping multiple versions of Instants and listening to the community's feedback while observing user reactions.'

Instants is available for iOS and Android. However, at the time of writing, it is not available in Japan.

TechCrunch commented that 'Instagram is returning to its roots by introducing Instants, which allow users to easily share 'the moment,' while also trying to compete with apps that specialize in temporary sharing and interaction with close friends.'
