Reports suggest that a major redesign of the MacBook Pro will be slightly delayed due to supply chain shortages.

The new MacBook Pro, expected to be released soon, is anticipated to feature a new OLED display with Dynamic Island, similar to the iPhone, a touchscreen that enables touch operation like the iPhone and iPad, and a high-performance M6 series chip. However, it has been reported that the release of this new MacBook Pro may be delayed until early 2027 due to a semiconductor (memory) shortage affecting the entire technology industry.

Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, who is well-versed in Apple-related leaks, has reported that Apple is also facing production problems due to the global semiconductor shortage. Initially, sources expected Apple to release the new MacBook Pro in the second half of 2026, but it now appears that the release may be delayed until early 2027 due to the semiconductor shortage. For similar reasons, Gurman reports that the release of the new Mac Studio will also be delayed.
According to reporter Gurman, the software for the touchscreen-equipped MacBook Pro is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2026 as part of macOS 27. Therefore, it has been pointed out that the delay in the release of the new MacBook Pro is not due to delays in software development.
It has also been reported that Apple is planning new context menu controls and dynamically expanding buttons in the system menu bar as part of the interface for touchscreen-enabled Macs.
It remains unclear exactly where the new MacBook Pro will fit into the Mac lineup. Technology media outlet 9to5Mac pointed out that 'with so many major upgrades being implemented simultaneously, Apple may position the new MacBook Pro as a new high-end model, potentially raising its price point. In that case, the current M5-equipped MacBook Pro will likely continue to be sold at its current price.'

In addition, Gurman pointed out that the visuals for the annual developer conference ' WWDC26 ,' scheduled for June 2026, 'offer a glimpse of the revamped Siri interface that will be introduced in iOS 27.'

According to reporter Gurman, iOS 27 will feature a new Siri interface in Dynamic Island. When Siri is activated, a 'Search or Ask a Question' prompt will appear in Dynamic Island, along with a 'light cursor' similar to the visuals from WWDC26. This light-based effect will also be seen in the search bar of the Siri app pre-installed in iOS 27.
Dynamic Island is included in iPhone 14 Pro and later models, but due to compatibility issues with Apple Intelligence, some of the new Siri designs coming soon may only be available on iPhone 15 Pro and later models.
