According to Gurman, Apple will update 'icon, menu, app, window and system button styles' as part of a major redesign, and the new design will be based on visionOS, the operating system used in Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headsets.

This design update will also be the biggest since iOS 7 in 2013 and macOS Big Sur in 2020, and Gurman said it will be 'more than just a new design language and cosmetic tweaks,' with updates intended to simplify the way users use their Apple devices and increase consistency across the software.

When it was announced, iOS 7 was described as 'the biggest change since the introduction of the iPhone,' and macOS Big Sur, which has a completely new design, has evolved to look more similar to iOS and iPadOS.

Apple is expected to announce iOS 19, iPadOS 19, and macOS 16 at the developer conference 'WWDC' in June 2025. However, it has been reported that the development of ' LLM Siri ', which can be called an updated version of the personal AI 'Apple Intelligence' that was originally scheduled to be installed in iOS 19, has been delayed, and in March 2025, Apple officially acknowledged the delay in the development of LLM Siri.
