The free video editing app 'DaVinci Resolve' is adding photo editing features, including RAW development, AI face correction, and tethered shooting.



DaVinci Resolve is a free, feature-rich video editing app. The public beta version of ' DaVinci Resolve 21 ,' released on April 14, 2026, added photo editing capabilities, allowing for various AI-powered corrections in addition to basic editing such as cropping. Furthermore, it now supports tethered shooting, connecting a camera to a PC for shooting.

The image below shows the RAW development screen in DaVinci Resolve 21. The image list is on the left, the image being edited is in the center, and the brightness and exposure settings for each RGB channel are displayed on the right.



RAW processing is compatible with Canon, Fujifilm, Nikon, and Sony cameras. It also supports iPhones. You can process photos up to 400 million pixels.



In addition to color correction, it's also possible to crop while specifying the aspect ratio.



It also features an AI-powered facial retouching function.



It also features multiple AI functions, including AI upscaling and AI noise reduction.



The output formats supported are JPEG, PNG, HEIC, and TIFF.



You can also manage a large number of images using the album function.



Image rating is also supported.



Furthermore, you can connect Canon and Sony cameras to your PC for tethered shooting. The photos you take will be automatically imported into an album in DaVinci Resolve 21.



DaVinci Resolve 21 is already available for download as a public beta.
