Apple releases 'Final Cut Pro 11,' adding various AI features such as 'subject isolation without a green screen' and 'subtitle generation'

Apple announced updates to its video editing app

Final Cut Pro and music production app Logic Pro on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. The Mac version of Final Cut Pro has added several AI features, including the ability to isolate subjects without the need for a green screen.

Using the AI feature ' Magnetic Mask ' added to Final Cut Pro 11, you can neatly cut out subjects in videos without the need for a green screen.

It also has an AI function called ' Transcribe Captions ' that automatically generates subtitles. According to

the help page , at the time of writing, it only supports English.

In addition, spatial video editing has been added. You can import spatial videos shot with Apple Vision Pro or iPhone 15 Pro or later iPhone series and perform editing such as color correction and adding effects. Below is a split-screen display of the video seen by the left and right eyes.

Other updates include a variety of other features, such as the addition of ' Zoom to Fit Vertically ,' which matches the height of a clip to the timeline, and optimizations for Apple Silicon.

Final Cut Pro 2.1 for iPad
Final Cut Pro 2.1 for iPad introduces Light and Colour Correction , which uses machine learning to automatically improve the colour of videos and images.

A new feature has also been added that allows you to draw text and illustrations directly into videos using brushes such as 'Watercolor,' 'Crayon,' 'Fountain Pen,' and 'Monoline Ink.'

In addition, it now supports timeline editing at high frame rates such as 90fps, 100fps, and 120fps, and also adds a function that provides haptic feedback when using Apple Pencil Pro.

Final Cut Camera 1.1 now lets you preview the effect of applying a LUT when shooting video in Log. In addition, video file sizes have been reduced, and 4K 120fps shooting is now possible on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
