Which convenience store do GIGAZINE readers use? We conducted a survey.

GIGAZINE holds

a giveaway campaign three times a year where you can win prizes just by answering a survey. In this campaign, we ask GIGAZINE readers a variety of questions, and this time we investigated which convenience store chains GIGAZINE readers use most often (multiple selections allowed) .

The graph below summarizes the survey results.

The usage rates of each convenience store among GIGAZINE readers were as follows:

1st place: Seven-Eleven (61%)
2nd place: FamilyMart (52%)
3rd place: Lawson (49%)
4th place: Nothing in particular / I don't use convenience stores (14%)
5th place: Ministop (5.4%)
6th place: Seicomart (3%)
7th place: Daily Yamazaki (2.7%)
8th place: Other (0.4%)
9th place: Poplar (0.3%)

The survey revealed that the vast majority of users frequent the three convenience store chains: Seven-Eleven, FamilyMart, and Lawson, with approximately half of the readers using each of these chains.

The image below shows a word cloud of the other responses. There weren't many types of responses, and some of the names mentioned included

NewDays , which has stores in JR East train stations; My Basket , which is operated by the Aeon Group in the Tokyo metropolitan area and Hokkaido; Seicomart , which is operated in Hokkaido, Ibaraki Prefecture and Saitama Prefecture ; Sakura Mikura, which is operated mainly in Gunma Prefecture by Zensho Holdings, which also operates restaurant chains such as Sukiya; Hamanasu Club , which is part of the Secoma Group; and Moyoriichi, which has stores in train stations along the Keihan Railway line.

While major convenience store chains are overwhelmingly popular, the names of so-called local convenience stores that operate only in certain regions were also mentioned.
