GABIBI is a tool that intentionally degrades and blurs images and videos uploaded for free.

Haruki Tominaga has released a free web tool called ' GABIBI ' that intentionally degrades images and makes them full of noise. It can process beautiful photos into low-quality, noisy JPEG images like those seen on the internet in the 1990s and 2000s.

Drag and drop the image you want to degrade onto the left side of the GABIBI UI.

On the right side of the UI, adjust the 'Resolution Resize,' 'JPEG Compression Strength,' and 'Number of Recursion Runs' using the sliders, then click 'Perform Degradation.' The smaller the resolution resize, the lower the JPEG compression strength, and the more recursion runs, the more severe the image degradation.

When I ran degradation with 10% resolution resize, 10% JPEG compression strength, and 10 recursion runs, the degraded image was displayed on the right side of the UI. Clicking 'Save' allowed me to save it locally in JPEG format.

Below is a comparison of the original image (left) and the degraded image (right). You can compare them by moving the slider in the center left and right.

There is also a video version of GABIBI called DOU-GABIBI .

The process is the same as GABIBI: drag and drop your video onto the left side of the UI. Then, adjust the 'Resolution Resize,' 'Video Compression Strength,' 'Number of Recursion Executions,' 'Frame Rate,' and 'Output Resolution' on the right side, then click 'Perform Degradation.' Supported video file formats are MP4, MOV, and WebM.

The conversion of the video will take some time.

Once the process is complete, the degraded video will be displayed on the left side. You can save it by clicking 'Save as MP4.'

Below are the video before conversion (left) and the video after degradation (right). The file size was 12MB, but it has been compressed to 431KB due to degradation.

This is what it looks like when you degrade a video with the video degradation tool 'DOU-GABIBI' - YouTube

Tominaga also released a tool called 'PIGAGA' that intentionally degrades music and audio.
