Apple announces 'MacBook Air with M5', 13-inch minimum configuration priced at 184,800 yen
Apple will announce the MacBook Air with the M5 chip on March 3, 2026. It will come in two sizes, 13 inches and 15 inches, and will have a battery life of up to 18 hours.

The M5-equipped MacBook Air is available in 13-inch and 15-inch models. It comes in four colors: Sky Blue, Silver, Starlight, and Midnight.
The M5 chip is equipped with up to 10 CPU cores and up to 10 GPU cores, improving overall processing performance. Its AI performance is particularly noteworthy, boasting a 9.5x improvement in large-scale language model (LLM) processing performance compared to the M1-equipped MacBook Air. It also boasts 3.8x the processing performance of a laptop equipped with an Intel Core Ultra X7.
It also comes equipped with a 12-megapixel camera, and features such as a 'Center Frame Camera' that keeps the user's face in the center, and a 'Desk View' that simultaneously captures the user's face and the desk top.
Charging is done via a wired MagSafe port, and it also has two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a headphone jack.
The power button has Touch ID built in, allowing you to perform login processes and other tasks using fingerprint authentication.
The specifications for the 13-inch and 15-inch models are as follows. The 13-inch model offers a choice of either a 10-core CPU and 8-core GPU M5 chip or a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU M5 chip, while the 15-inch model only offers a 10-core CPU and 10-core GPU M5 chip. The available memory and storage capacities vary depending on the chip type.
