Apple announces MacBook Air equipped with M3 chip, 13 times faster than Intel machine and capable of simultaneous output on two screens



Apple announced the MacBook Air equipped with the M3 chip on Monday, March 4, 2024. There are 13-inch and 15-inch models of MacBook Air equipped with M3 chip, and it is said that it operates 1.6 times faster than the model equipped with M1 chip and 13 times faster than the model equipped with Intel CPU.

MacBook Air with M3 chip comes in 13-inch and 15-inch models. The exact display size for the 13-inch model is 13.6 inches diagonally, with a resolution of 2560 x 1664 pixels. The 15-inch model has a display size of 15.3 inches diagonally and a resolution of 2880 x 1864 pixels.



There is no difference in processing chip or memory capacity between the 13-inch model and the 15-inch model, and both models are equipped with the M3 chip and can be equipped with up to 24GB of unified memory and up to 2TB of storage. Apple claims that the M3 chip-equipped MacBook Air runs 1.6 times faster than the M1 chip-equipped model and 13 times faster than the Intel CPU-equipped model. In addition, the battery capacity is 52.6Wh for the 13-inch model and 66.5Wh for the 15-inch model, but the maximum operating time for both models is 18 hours.



The ports on board are also the same: one MagSafe charging port, two Thunderbolt ports, and one headphone jack.



Another major feature of the M3 chip-equipped MacBook Air is that it can output to up to two external displays simultaneously.



The price of the MacBook Air with M3 chip starts from 164,800 yen including tax for the 13-inch model and 198,800 yen including tax for the 15-inch model. The release date is March 8, 2024 (Friday), and pre-orders have already begun.
