YouTube finally releases official app for Apple Vision Pro

When Apple Vision Pro was released in 2024, YouTube was initially reluctant to develop a visionOS-specific app, but on February 12, 2026, the official YouTube app for Apple Vision Pro was finally released.

This app for visionOS lets you watch standard videos and YouTube Shorts on a giant, theater-sized virtual screen.

According to Apple spokesperson Cory Nord, users will be able to discover 3D, VR180, and 360-degree video content in a dedicated tab for spatial video.

The YouTube app for visionOS is available on all devices, including models with the M2 chip, and supports 8K playback on the second-generation Apple Vision Pro with the M5 chip.

In terms of operation, gesture controls are used, allowing you to intuitively resize windows and scrub through videos. In addition, the new offline download function, which was not available via the previous version of Safari, has been added, making it more convenient for use when traveling or on the move.

YouTube decided not to release a visionOS app, saying it was 'carefully monitoring the adoption of the platform,' but in the meantime, major services like Disney+ and Amazon Prime Video had been offering native apps from the start. Until the official app was released, the unofficial app 'Juno' was used, but it was removed from the App Store in October 2024 for violating the terms of service.

Although Apple Vision Pro's Apple Intelligence features have been in use for about a year, shipments in the fourth quarter of 2025 were only about 45,000 units, and overall user response has been muted, with reports of production suspensions and reduced marketing due to sluggish demand.
