Google has not released a YouTube app for Apple Vision Pro, and video apps such as Netflix have not released dedicated apps. Therefore, to watch YouTube on Apple Vision Pro, you need to open YouTube from Safari, and when you play a video, it will be played in Apple's native video player. Although Google reported in February 2024 that the YouTube app for Apple Vision Pro was 'on the roadmap,' there has been no follow-up report since then.

So Selig developed Juno, a YouTube viewer app, to watch YouTube on Apple Vision Pro. Juno not only lets you watch immersive 360-degree and 180-degree videos, but also lets you pinch and drag to manipulate content on YouTube, and use Siri to control play and pause. However, it does not block YouTube ads, and Selig explained that it 'just functions as a web wrapper for YouTube, like a browser extension.'

In April 2024, Juno received a warning from Google that 'Juno does not comply with YouTube guidelines, has modified its website in a way that YouTube does not approve, and uses YouTube trademarks and icons.'

Below is a screenshot of the email Selig received from YouTube notifying him of a violation of its guidelines.

However, Selig said, 'Juno is just a web viewer and a browser extension that changes CSS to make websites and video players look more like visionOS. It doesn't add any new visual elements to the website beyond the logo already on the website, and the use of the words 'for YouTube' is permitted by YouTube's terms of service .' He argued that it does not violate YouTube's guidelines.

However, YouTube's terms of service state, 'You may not use abbreviations or acronyms of the word YouTube and the YouTube brand name, such as YouTube or You-Tube, in combination with the overall name of your application.' Since Juno's official name is 'Juno for YouTube,' this is clearly a violation of the terms of service.

Then, on October 1, 2024 local time, it was revealed that Juno was removed from the App Store for Apple Vision Pro. Selig posted, 'I'm sorry to inform you that Juno for YouTube has been removed from the App Store. It was a lot of fun to create, and I'd like to thank everyone who has used and enjoyed it.' Selig reported on his blog that 'YouTube did not offer any explanation or concessions, and a few minutes ago I received an email from Apple saying that Juno had been removed from the App Store.'

Selig was the developer of Apollo, a third-party Reddit viewer app, which he shut down after Reddit made its API a paid service, but he said he has no plans to fight the removal of Juno.
