The 'ai.com' domain was purchased for a record-breaking price of approximately $110 million from the founder of Crypto.com, who will provide an AI agent.

Chris Marszalek, co-founder of cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com , has announced the launch of ai.com , a consumer-facing autonomous AI agent platform. Marszalek purchased the domain ai.com for $70 million, making it the largest publicly-disclosed domain name transaction.

I purchased https://t.co/ac2AqjBNxj in April. Since that time, we created a team that has been steadily building. There are always twists and turns, but I'm excited with our first launch this Sunday during the Super Bowl. pic.twitter.com/BbqVo1bQLZ

Introducing ai.com – Your Private, Personal AI Agent - YouTube
Ai.com, founded by Marszalek, will offer a consumer-oriented autonomous AI agent that will be available starting February 6, 2026, allowing anyone to create a private, personal AI agent with just a few clicks. The AI agent can perform a variety of actions on the user's behalf, including stock trading, workflow automation, organizing and completing daily tasks using a calendar, and even updating online dating profiles. All operations are kept private, and the AI agent operates in a dedicated, secure environment, where data is isolated and encrypted with a user-specific key, reducing security risks associated with AI agents.

'The evolution of AI is at a fundamental turning point. AI is rapidly evolving from basic chatbots to AI agents that actually get things done for humans,' Marszalek said. 'Our vision is a distributed network where billions of agents can self-improve and share their results, dramatically and rapidly expanding their capabilities and accelerating the arrival of general artificial intelligence (AGI).'
To establish ai.com, Marszalek also purchased the domain name 'ai.com' from an anonymous seller for $70 million in April 2025. According to Larry Fisher of GetYourDomain.com , who brokered the transaction, the ai.com transaction was the largest domain deal ever made public, and was paid entirely in cryptocurrency.
'There's a good business reason for paying such a high price for the domain,' Marszalek said. 'Just as we already own the Crypto domain, we have a strong desire to have exclusive control over a direct customer touchpoint for our brand image. We thought it would be very interesting to own two domains that represent such important categories.'
