The Valentine's Day limited edition 'Kyoto Duck and Uji Matcha Chocolate Ramen' features the bittersweet taste of matcha and the cocoa-scented noodles, which complement the umami and sweetness of the chicken broth.

A number of limited-edition chocolates are available for Valentine's Day on February 14th. Ramen specialty restaurant MENSHO will be offering ' Kyoto Duck and Uji Matcha Chocolate Ramen ' as a two-week limited-time menu item from February 1st (Sun) to February 14th (Sat), 2026. The dish features a green matcha soup paired with brown noodles kneaded with cocoa, so we decided to try it out to see what it tastes like.

The Kyoto duck and Uji matcha chocolate ramen is served at MENSHO District in Yoyogi-Uehara, Tokyo, Menya Shono in Ichigaya, and MENSHO in Gokokuji. This time, I went to MENSHO in Gokokuji. The address is 1-17-16 Otowa, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo .

The Kyoto duck and Uji matcha chocolate ramen was brought to me in about 5 minutes. The green soup is quite unfamiliar to me, so even though I had seen it on a poster, I was a little surprised when I saw it in person.

It was topped with slices of Kyoto duck from Yamashiro Farm, which had been grilled on a hanging rack, and a brown powder that looked like cocoa.

Grilled white onions and chopped green onions are also floating on top.

First, I tried the soup. It was based on chicken broth, and I could really taste the umami of the chicken, along with the aroma of matcha and a slight bitterness. This bitterness really brought out the sweetness of the chicken broth. The aroma of the matcha didn't interfere with the aroma of the soup, and I felt it was in perfect harmony.

The noodles, which are kneaded with cacao, have a firm yet flexible texture. They have a subtle cacao scent but are not sweet, and also have a hint of wheat, which goes perfectly with the matcha chicken broth.

The Kyoto duck slices were cooked to perfection and were tender. The unique flavor of the duck meat and the rustic taste of duck blood filled my mouth as I bit into them. The mellow, sweet matcha chicken broth evoked a strong, distinct flavor, and the umami of the duck was apparent with every bite. The aroma of the charred green onions and spring onions was also refreshing, giving it a cool, refreshing feel. The Kyoto duck and Uji matcha chocolate ramen was a perfect blend of the sweetness of the matcha chicken broth, the bittersweetness of the matcha, the flavor of the cacao, and the taste of the duck, creating a truly perfect bowl.

The Kyoto duck and Uji matcha chocolate ramen will be available for a limited time from February 1st to February 14th, 2026, at MENSHO District in Yoyogi-Uehara, Menya Shono in Ichigaya, and MENSHO in Gokokuji. The price is 1,500 yen (tax included).
