What kind of AI do GIGAZINE readers use? We conducted a survey

Various AI tools, such as OpenAI's chat AI ChatGPT, Google's Gemini, and xAI's Grok, are becoming more prevalent in our daily lives. GIGAZINE covers so much AI-related news that it has even created a new category, '

AI .' However, we were curious to know if our readers are actually using AI, which specific AI companies they support, and what AI models are popular, so we asked these questions in a survey for our giveaway campaign , which is conducted three times a year.

When GIGAZINE asked readers, 'What AI do you use on a regular basis?', the most common answer was 'none in particular,' at 37%. It seems that more than one in three people still don't use AI.

The top five AIs used by GIGAZINE readers are dominated by Google and OpenAI AIs.

Next, based on the answers, we investigated the 'AI manufacturers most used by GIGAZINE readers' and found the following results.

1st place: OpenAI (47.2%)
2nd place: Google (33.5%)
3rd place: xAI (8.5%)
4th place: Anthropic (8.1%)
5th place: DeepSeek (1.1%)
6th place: Meta (0.76%)
7th place: Alibaba (0.40%)
8th place: Mistral AI (0.30%)
9th place: Moonshot AI (0.18%)
10th place: Cohere (0.12%)
11th place: Baidu (0.02%)

The AI most used by GIGAZINE readers was Google's Gemini 3 Pro, but the 'most used AI manufacturer by GIGAZINE readers' was OpenAI, with about half of the readers using some kind of OpenAI AI.

The next most popular AI is Google, the developer of Gemini 3 Pro, which is used by one in three people.

The third most popular AI company was Elon Musk's xAI. The only two AIs made by xAI that were available in the survey responses were Grok 4 and Grok 4.1, but they came in third with an 8.5% market share. While their market share is smaller than OpenAI and Google, the companies ranked fifth and below all have a market share of less than 1%, so there is still a significant gap between them and them.
