Have you ever used online courses or learning services? Do you program? We asked GIGAZINE readers in a survey

Online courses and learning services are convenient because they allow you to learn systematically through videos and slides, and are not tied to location or time, but it's interesting to know how many people actually use them, what fields they are learning, and what they want to learn in the future. In a survey conducted as part of

a giveaway campaign conducted three times a year by GIGAZINE, we asked people about their use of online courses, as well as IT qualifications, programming languages, and markup languages they are interested in.

First, we asked, 'Have you ever used an online course or learning service?' 70.2% answered 'No' and 29.8% answered 'Yes.'

Next, we asked people who have experience using online courses or learning services, 'What category did you take?' The answers, organized into a word cloud, are shown below. The fields of study covered were wide-ranging, including 'Programming,' 'English/Languages,' 'Business Management,' 'Design/CG,' 'IT,' 'Education/Learning,' 'AI,' 'Investment/Finance,' 'Accounting/Bookkeeping,' and 'Medicine/Health,' but the majority of people studied programming, IT, or English/Languages.

Those who answered 'yes' to programming in the previous question were asked, 'Which programming language/markup language do you usually use?' The top 10 answers are summarized below.

Python is overwhelmingly popular, ranking first both as a 'language I use regularly' and as a 'language I would like to learn in the future.' However, other languages that did not appear in the 'languages I use regularly,' such as Rust and Go, also figured prominently as 'languages I would like to learn in the future.'

GIGAZINE publishes articles across a wide range of categories, primarily IT-related, and the survey revealed that approximately 30% of readers have experience using online learning or programming. Additionally, when asked about qualifications of interest, the Fundamental Information Technology Engineer Examination and the Applied Information Technology Engineer Examination came out on top, revealing readers' desire to 'study systematically' and 'clarify their next steps.' Regarding programming and markup languages, it's notable that in addition to the strength of Python as a commonly used language, Rust and Go also ranked highly as languages readers would like to learn in the future.
