The partnership will expand NVIDIA's AI model, Music Flamingo , with UMG's vast music catalog of millions of songs, and UMG says it aims to 'fundamentally change how people discover and engage with music.'

Music Flamingo is a music understanding model that aims to achieve a deep, human-like understanding of music, taking into account complex elements such as harmony, structure, timbre, lyrics, as well as cultural background and emotional ups and downs.

'For artists, Music Flamingo opens up new creative possibilities for analyzing their music in unprecedented depth and communicating its appeal to fans. It also benefits emerging artists by making it easier for them to be discovered by fans who deeply understand their style,' UMG said. Fans will also benefit from Music Flamingo, going beyond traditional search and playlists to discover new music based on emotional narrative and cultural resonance.

On the other hand, measures are being taken to overcome the disadvantages and risks associated with the introduction of AI.

First, to address concerns about the proliferation of poor-quality AI output, the organization will establish a specialized organization called an 'Artist Incubator.' This Artist Incubator will allow artists and songwriters to directly participate in the design of tools, and will promote technological development in a direction that enhances human originality and authenticity. It is expected to act as a bulwark against low-quality output generated by automated generation.

Regarding the issues of copyright infringement and lack of proper compensation, UMG will conduct joint research and development based on responsible AI principles to protect rights holders and ensure compensation.
