[Osaka Kansai Expo] A report on our experience of 'Monster Hunter Bridge,' an immersive content that lets you enter the world of Monster Hunter and throw stones at the Rathalos.

The Osaka Healthcare Pavilion at the Osaka-Kansai Expo will be exhibiting ' Monster Hunter Bridge, ' an experiential content that allows visitors to enter the world of Monster Hunter. Monster Hunter Bridge is a combination of an AR device, a 360-degree theater, and a vibrating floor, allowing visitors to touch healing honeybees and throw stones at the Rathalos. I was able to try out a demo version of Monster Hunter Bridge during the Osaka-Kansai Expo preview, so I've put together a summary of what it was like.

Monster footprints and small footprints were discovered outside the main venue of the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion.

As I followed the footprints, a large monster appeared.

There are also Airu.

Next to the illustrations of monsters, I found a building with the word 'XD HALL' written on it. This XD HALL is the Monster Hunter Bridge experience venue.

Here's what XD HALL looks like from a different angle. It's a square, rectangular building.

In front of XD HALL, there is a Monster Hunter Bridge logo. It looks like a good place to take a commemorative photo.

Monster Hunter Bridge

requires a separate reservation for admission to the Expo site. After completing the reservation, you can leave your luggage in a locker and enter the XD HALL.

The waiting area inside XD HALL looks like this. This is where you receive your AR device. At the back of the waiting area is the 360-degree theater.

The AR device looks like this.

You can adjust the tightness by turning the dial on the back.

I tried wearing the AR device. It can be worn over glasses without any problems. The AR image is projected onto a transparent screen that covers the eyes.

Below is a video of the 360-degree theater, taken all around. In fact, the AR device shows the recovery beetle and the trajectory of your hand, and it looks like the recovery beetle is flying in the surrounding space. In addition, the speaker attached to the AR device plays surround sound in accordance with your movements, and vibrations are transmitted from the floor. It's quite immersive.

If you hold your hand over a healing honeybug flying near you, a healing effect will occur.

This time, I was able to experience the content of 'recovering by touching a recovery beetle' and 'throwing a stone at a Rathalos.' Rathalos flies through the scorching magma area.

The AR device depicts a 'stone' that overlaps with your hand, and you can throw stones at the Rathalos by making the gesture of throwing a stone as shown below. Not only do you get audio and video, but the floor also vibrates, allowing you to fully enjoy the fear and excitement of facing off against the Rathalos.

By the way, here's the official promotional video:
