Introducing the 'AMD Ryzen AI Max' and 'AMD Ryzen AI Max PRO' processors
AMD has released the AMD Ryzen AI Max series as its top-of-the-line mobile processor series. At the same time, the AMD Ryzen AI Max PRO series, which supports enterprise security and management tools, has also been released.

The spec list looks like this. The top-end model 'AMD Ryzen AI Max + 395' is equipped with 16 Zen 5 cores, a neural processing unit (NPU) capable of 50 trillion operations per second, and 40 graphics cores.

It supports up to 128GB of memory and up to 96GB of graphics memory, delivering workstation-level performance to your laptop.

Here's a comparison between Intel's top-of-the-line model, the Core Ultra 9 288V , announced in September 2024, and the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395. The AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 can perform 3D rendering 2.6 times faster on average.

The AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 also outperforms in graphics performance.

We can see that it outperforms the MacBook M4 Pro in many benchmarks.

It is said that the system achieved inference speeds up to 2.2 times faster than NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4090 24GB.

PCs equipped with AMD Ryzen AI Max series processors are expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2025.

◆ New processors appear in the 'AMD Ryzen AI 300' series
AMD has announced two new additions to its Ryzen AI 300 series processor family for laptops: AMD Ryzen AI 7 and AMD Ryzen AI 5.

The AMD Ryzen AI 9, which uses the same Zen 5 architecture as this one, will be released in June 2024, and the AMD Ryzen AI 7 and AMD Ryzen AI 5 released this time will be lower-end versions.

While the 'AMD Ryzen AI 9' of the 'AMD Ryzen AI 300' series had a maximum of 12 cores, 'AMD Ryzen AI 7' has 8 cores and 'AMD Ryzen AI 5' has 6 cores. 'We will provide everyone with the same reliable performance and AI capabilities as AMD Ryzen AI 9.' In addition, the PRO series, which adds enterprise security and management tools, has been released for 'AMD Ryzen AI 7' and 'AMD Ryzen AI 5.'

◆ 'AMD Ryzen 200' and 'Ryzen 200 PRO'
A large number of AMD Ryzen 200 series products using the 'Zen 4' architecture have been announced, with the aim of 'bringing AI capabilities to lower-tier products.' Note that these are not newly developed products, but rather the AMD Ryzen 8040 series announced in 2023 , which appears to have been rebranded this time.

The lineup is as follows: Some models are equipped with a neural processing unit and can achieve up to 16 TOPS, but they do not have AI in their model names because they do not reach the 45 TOPS required by Copilot+.
