We ran a benchmark on the powerful mobile notebook PC 'VAIO SX14-R' that weighs less than 1kg.
We ran various benchmark software on VAIO's fall 2024 model, the VAIO SX14-R , a PC for mobile work that features a lightweight and robust body weighing less than 1 kg thanks to its carbon fiber plate, as well as a large-capacity battery and AI noise canceling function.

◆ Check specifications
We will use multiple software to check the specifications of the VAIO SX14-R.
First, start '
According to GPU-Z , graphics are provided by Intel Arc Graphics.
When I checked with CrystalDiskInfo , I found that the storage was the 256GB model Samsung MZVL8256HEJD-00B07 .
◆Benchmark
Next, we will run various benchmark software.
When we ran ' CrystalDiskMark ', which measures storage transfer speeds, the sequential read was 4236.84MB/s, sequential write was 1507.19MB/s, random read was 691.88MB/s, and random write was 363.70MB/s.
When we ran the comprehensive benchmark 'CrystalMark Retro', the overall score was '9907', the CPU single-core score was '10651', and the multi-core score was '108131'.
We measured the CPU and GPU scores using the standard benchmark software '
The CPU's single-core score was 2263. The integer score was 2223, and the floating-point score was 2339.
The CPU's multi-core score was 11204. The integer score was 10425, and the floating-point score was 12808.

Passmark PerformanceTest measures five items - CPU, 2D, 3D, memory, and disk - to calculate an overall score, allowing you to see where the current results rank compared to all previously run benchmarks, as well as make comparisons using previously run benchmarks as a baseline.
As a result of running the test, the overall score was 5342, and the percentile of the overall score was 56%, which is slightly above the average.
Additionally, among the PCs on which we have previously run PerformanceTests, we have compared it with similar mobile notebook PCs such as the
The CPU score is 18988, with a percentile of 63%, which is slightly above the average.
Here's a comparison. The CPU installed is the Intel Core Ultra 5 125H, so it can be seen that it is not comparable to the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H or AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 375, and the results are generally in line with the product rank.
The 2D graphics score was 738, which is in the 56th percentile, which is also slightly above average.
It ranked second among the devices compared.
The 3D graphics score is 4810, which is a percentile of 36%, which is lower than the average.
The comparison results look like this. The top rankings are NVIDIA GeForce and AMD Radeon, so in the case of the VAIO SX14-R, it can be said that Intel's built-in CPU graphics are performing as well as they should.
The memory score is 2610, with a percentile of 44%, which is close to the average.
There is no significant difference in the comparison.
The disk score is 20195, with a percentile of 66%, which is slightly above average.
However, since many of the machines it was compared to were equipped with high-speed SSDs, it ranked lower among the machines compared.
I also tried running the '
This benchmark allows you to choose from three quality settings and four resolution settings, so the results of running all of them are summarized in the table below. In all cases, it seemed quite difficult to operate normally when set to high resolution or high quality.
Quality/Resolution | 3840×2160 | 2560×1440 | 1920×1080 | 1280×720 |
---|---|---|---|---|
Lightweight quality | 1694 (Difficult to operate) | 3063 (Regular) | 4114(Normal) | 5075 (somewhat comfortable) |
Standard Quality | 1181 (Difficult to operate) | 2238(heavy) | 3231(Regular) | 4925 (somewhat comfortable) |
high quality | 913 (Difficult to operate) | 1674 (Difficult to operate) | 2211 (heavy) | 2947 (slightly heavy) |
The Final Fantasy XIV: Golden Legacy Benchmark allows for a wide range of resolution settings, so we ran all five quality settings at the default resolution of 1920x1080.
The results are as follows. Everything worked fine except for the highest quality.
Quality/Resolution | 1920×1080 |
---|---|
Standard Note | 7213 (somewhat comfortable) |
Standard Desktop | 7447 (somewhat comfortable) |
High Quality Notes | 7066 (somewhat comfortable) |
High Quality Desktop | 5051(Regular) |
Best Quality | 3554 (setting change recommended) |
Although no quantitative measurements were performed, when I installed the open-world RPG ' Genshin Impact ,' the default graphics settings were set to 'Lowest Quality.' After changing the FPS from 30 to 60 and playing the game, the game itself ran without any problems, so I got the impression that there would be no problems starting and running the game, except for games that put a heavy load on the graphics.
We will also continue to measure how much heat the device gets when in use and how long the battery lasts.
