Elon Musk appointed head of Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to exert influence under Trump administration; advertisers are preparing to resume advertising on X



Since Elon Musk acquired Twitter (now X), many advertisers have

Musk had voiced his support for Trump during the election campaign, and engaged in supportive activities such as holding a dialogue on X. In his victory speech, Trump also stated, 'A new star has been born: Elon,' and '(Mr. Musk) is a brilliant genius. Geniuses must be protected,' highlighting the depth of their relationship.

Following Trump's election victory, it was reported that Musk was present during a phone call between Trump and US President Volodymyr Zelensky , and Trump announced that he would establish a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with Musk at its head. This suggests that Musk's influence is likely to increase under a second Trump administration.




Lou Paskalis of marketing consulting firm AJL told the Financial Times, 'Just as some marketers are looking to win government contracts, they are likely to resume spending on X in an effort to gain political influence,' and 'companies will try to be viewed favorably by DOGE's Secretary Musk,' pointing out the possibility that companies may resume advertising on X. In addition, a representative of an advertising agency commented, 'X will be seen as an official White House communication channel.'

However, this did not mean that the entire advertising industry had changed its stance on X, with some media directors saying, 'X is a mess. Which brand is going to take the risk?'

Musk has been reported to be present at most of Trump's meetings at Mar-a-Lago, his vacation home, and is considered to play an important role in policy decisions for the second Trump administration. He has also made notable political posts on X, such as his support for Senator Mike Lee's post that 'the Federal Reserve should be abolished' with a '100 points' emoji.




Trump has also voiced his support for Musk's companies, including Tesla and SpaceX, making it likely that Musk will benefit greatly from his management of the companies.

Immediately after announcing that DOGE would be established and Musk would be appointed as its secretary, Mr. Musk posted a logo image to X that included words such as 'DEPARTMENT OF GOVERNMENT EFFICIENCY' and 'DOGE' as well as an image of a Shiba Inu.




Dogecoin, which is known to have close ties to Musk, has also seen its price rise by more than 80% in the past five days.
