Dream Lab
Canva acquired Leonardo.Ai, an AI image generation service, at the end of July 2024. Leonardo.Ai's image generation AI is characterized by the fact that users can enter a text prompt and then draw a certain amount of sketches to generate photorealistic images in real time based on both text and sketch prompts.

Canva's new AI feature, Dream Lab , which generates images from text, is based on Leonardo.Ai's Phoenix model and allows users to generate images in a variety of styles, including 3D renderings and illustrations.

Canva already has its own Stable Diffusion-based AI image generator, and also hosts several other third-party apps, but the new Dream Lab introduces some improvements to the platform. For example, it goes beyond existing AI image generators in terms of creating photographic styles and multi-subject images, and it also allows you to reference existing images for better control over the output. Technology media The Verge noted that it's 'similar to Photoshop's reference image tool.'

This is what Dream Lab looks like: Simply enter a description of the image you want to generate, select the style of image you want to generate, and press 'Create' to easily generate the image you like.

Magic essay
Magic Essay has been enhanced to allow you to generate and proofread your sentences. You can now make minor edits to the generated sentences, and you can tailor the sentences to your liking with simple instructions.

Ability to convert data into interactive graphs
Although the graph generation function has existed up until now, it is now possible to create dynamic graphs such as 'dynamic bar graphs.'

Whiteboard
The whiteboard feature, which allows users to organize their ideas and create graphs and diagrams using images, videos, stock images, illustrations, icons and more, now includes an AI-powered summary function and real-time reaction stickers.

Additionally, a licensing agreement with music platform Artlist makes new royalty-free audio and video available.

Other features coming soon include the ability to reflect your brand's personality in captions, poll and quiz functions, and the ability to generate mockup templates from any image.

'We're thrilled to be able to empower more than 200 million people in almost every country around the world,' said Melanie Perkins, co-founder and CEO of Canva, revealing that Canva now has over 200 million users.
