Review of the Slick 'Plate III' that allows multiple cameras to be attached to one tripod

Usually, only one camera can be attached to one tripod, but sometimes you want to use a camera as a sub camera in addition to the main camera, and you want to fix it to one tripod at the same time. In the editorial department of GIGAZINE, there are cases where you want to shoot while comparing two cameras in camera reviews, so we decided to introduce the ' Plate III ' from camera accessory manufacturer

Slick .

The Plate III package looks like this and is very simple.

The Plate III itself and the instruction manual were packed together in a bag.

The body of Plate III is shown below. The size is 330mm long x 40mm wide x 22mm high.

View from above. There are U1/4 inch female threads for accessories and two U1/4 inch camera screws on both ends. Between the camera screws there is a U1/4 inch tripod mounting screw hole. The tripod mounting screws are located about 19 cm from the left end and about 14 cm from the right end, slightly off-center from the center of Plate III.

View from the side. The two camera screws can be moved left and right and have dial-like camera screw knobs. The left and right camera screws have different ranges of movement, with the camera screw on the left side of the image moving within a range of about 10 cm and the camera screw on the right side moving within a range of about 5 cm. The tripod mounting screw also has a dial-like tightening knob.

The part of the camera stand where the camera screw is located has anti-slip rubber attached. Also, the camera screw has a cap, which can be attached when storing the camera in a bag to prevent the camera screw from damaging other items.

The side looks like this. Plate III is compatible with

Arca-Swiss parts, a camera accessory manufacturer, and has a groove on the bottom for quick attachment and detachment by clamping.

The tripod mounting screw looks like this.

View from the back. There are seven U1/4 inch accessory threads and five U3/8 inch accessory threads, arranged alternately.

It had a 'MADE IN THAILAND' sticker on it.

The actual weight is 534g. It is made of metal and is sturdy, so it feels heavy when you hold it in your hand.

Here's what it looks like when it's actually attached to a tripod head. The tripod mounting screw is off-center, so you need to adjust the weight balance while attaching it.

When using the tightening knob to attach the plate, the long side of Plate III should face up onto the tripod legs to stabilize the whole unit. Of course, the center of gravity will change depending on the size and position of the camera you mount it on, so be careful.

I tried attaching a Panasonic mirrorless single-lens camera,

the GH7 . The camera screw knob is dial-shaped, so it's easy to turn, and I found it easy to attach the camera even after attaching the Plate III to the tripod. It also has a non-slip surface, so it can be firmly fixed in place by tightening the screw.

On the other side, I used

a Gorillapod rig and smartphone holder to secure the iPhone 16 Pro .

The completed installation is shown below. Two cameras are attached, but Plate III is quite sturdy, so if you tighten the screws firmly, it is stable enough. However, since the weight is quite large including the attached cameras, it is desirable to use a tripod that supports Plate III with a sturdy construction.

And with Plate III, you can shoot the same subject from the same point with the GH7 and iPhone at the same time like this. However, the two camera screws are about 11cm to 26cm apart, so be careful when shooting close to medium distances as there will be a slight difference in the angle with the subject.

Slick's Plate III can be purchased at Amazon.co.jp. The price is 16,500 yen including tax.
