ELECOM is one of the companies to have received official USB4 Version 2.0 cable certification from the USB-IF, and is the first company in Japan to receive this certification.

A cable with a transfer speed of 80 Gbps and a power supply of 60 W (20 V / 3 A) and a cable with a transfer speed of 80 Gbps and a power supply of 240 W (48 V / 5 A) are scheduled to be released in December 2024. Both types support 'DisplayPort Alternative Mode', which allows the pins contained in USB Type-C to be used for signal transmission other than USB, such as video signals, and are capable of transmitting video up to 8K (7680 x 4320) / 60 Hz.

To fully utilize the above specifications, the device connected to the cable must also support USB4 Version 2.0, but technology media Tom's Guide reports that 'Currently, there are no motherboards or other devices that natively support this standard.'

The transfer speed of USB4 Version 2.0, 80 Gbps, is twice that of USB4 Version 1.0 . The USB4 Version 2.0 specification itself will be released in 2022, and in theory it will be able to support up to 120 Gbps in a single direction.
