At the ' Made On YouTube 2024 ' event held in New York, YouTube announced various new information, including the introduction of AI generation to short videos and the introduction of automatic dubbing. One of the new information is the revamping of YouTube TV.

According to YouTube, the new UI will allow creators to organize their shows by episode or season, and automatically play trailers when users visit a creator's page. This will give the show display a similar look to Netflix and Max .

In addition, the company plans to roll out features to support creators' growth, such as displaying a simpler and more visible subscribe button while playing videos and introducing a function to generate QR codes from links in video descriptions. It is hoped that the introduction of this function will increase the number of subscribers for creators and encourage users to spread information by using QR codes.

YouTube says the QR codes and new subscribe features will be released in 2024, with episode and season curation features rolling out gradually from 2025.

According to research firm Nielsen Gauge, YouTube is popular on connected TVs, with a 10.6% share, surpassing Netflix's 7.9% and Prime Video's 3.1%. YouTube also said that the number of creators whose income comes mostly from TV has increased 30% year-on-year, and that the number of top creators whose viewing time is mostly on TV has increased by more than 400% over the past three years.

Christian Austrien, vice president of product management at YouTube, said, 'When we launched Primetime Channels , one of the things we really wanted to provide was an immersive experience. When you visit a channel, you see seasons and episodes in a cohesive way. We found that many of our creators wanted this, so we gave them the tools to create it.'
