Facebook's logo features a white 'f' on a blue background, and this design is also used for the iOS app icon.
However, on August 29, 2024 local time, a report was made on Reddit that 'the iOS version of the Facebook app icon is blue and black.' The person who reported the problem wrote, 'I deleted and reinstalled the Facebook app twice, but the problem did not go away.'

In iOS 18 , which is scheduled to be released around fall 2024, when dark mode is enabled, app icons will also change to a color that matches the dark mode.
It has been pointed out on Reddit that Meta, the developer of Facebook, may have mistakenly uploaded the iOS 18 dark mode app icon as the Facebook app icon. In fact, there are voices saying that when dark mode is enabled in iOS 18 beta 6, the Facebook app icon will be designed as shown below with a white base, so it is possible that Meta may have mistakenly uploaded the app icon for normal and dark mode.
In addition, when Business Insider, which reported that the Facebook app's icon design had suddenly changed, contacted Meta, Meta's communications manager Dave Arnold responded, 'This was due to a technical issue that has been resolved. The fix will be reflected when you update the app.'
