Donald Trump claims that the rally photos posted by the Kamala Harris campaign are fake images generated by AI, and has sharply criticized them, saying, 'This is how the Democrats win elections.' However, evidence that they are real photos continues to emerge.

Kamala Harris is the 49th Vice President of the United States and the Democratic Party's nominee to succeed

President Joe Biden, who announced his withdrawal from the 2024 US presidential election . She has already held rallies to raise funds for her campaign in various places, and has reportedly raised a total of more than $12 million (approximately 1.77 billion yen) in her hometown of San Francisco, steadily preparing for the presidential election. However, it has been revealed that former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, claims that the photos of Harris' rallies held in various places are 'fake images created by AI.'

Trump Falsely Claims Harris' Rally Crowds Are AI-Generated - The New York Times

Harris and Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz, governor of Minnesota, held a rally in Detroit, Michigan on August 7, 2024 local time. Shortly after the rally, Trump updated his account on Truth Social , a social networking site he launched, saying, 'Look, we caught her with a fake 'crowd'. There was no one there!', claiming that the image posted by the Harris campaign was a fake image generated by AI.

He continued, 'Did anyone notice Kamala cheated at the airport? There was no one on the plane and she used AI to generate the crowd to make it look like she was surrounded by her followers. An airport maintenance worker noticed the fake crowd photo and pointed it out. It was later confirmed to be an AI-generated image by the reflection of the VP plane's mirror finish. She's a con artist. She made it look like she was surrounded by a crowd of 10,000 people, which is patently false! The same 'fake crowd' was also featured in her speech. This is how Democrats win elections. Creating a fake image is election interference and she should be disqualified. People who do this will cheat at anything!' he wrote, sharply criticizing the Harris camp.

Trump's claim seems to be based on a claim posted by Chuck Callesto, a Trump supporter who calls himself a social media strategist, that 'the photos of the election rally posted by the Harris campaign are fake images.' Callesto points out that the image is fake because the mirror finish of the vice presidential plane does not show the crowd, but X (formerly Twitter) notes that 'the crowd is real, thousands of people attended the rally, many of whom posted photos and videos of the rally.'

For example, here is a photo taken from a different angle:

Kamala HQ, an account operated by the Harris campaign, quickly denied Trump's claims, saying the image was not an AI-generated fake. It also posted, 'Trump hasn't campaigned in a battleground state for over a week. Is he running out of energy?'

Rolling Stone also points out that 'Trump often exaggerates the numbers at his own rallies and seems keen to underestimate the numbers at his opponent, Harris', rallies.'
