It all started with a post on X on July 23, 2024 by Leslie Feinzeig, founder and CEO of Graham & Walker Venture Fund, asking, 'I'm starting a venture capital fund for democracy. Anyone interested in joining?'

Within days of Feinzeig's call, Hoffman, Mark Cuban and others had voiced their support, and the group of more than 100 venture capitalists formed a group called 'VCs for Kamala' and is calling for votes and donations for Harris.

'We support business, the American Dream, entrepreneurship and technological advancement, and every day we seek out, invest in and support entrepreneurs who are shaping the future. We also believe democracy is the backbone of our nation,' VCs for Kamala said in a statement. 'At this pivotal moment, we are united in our support of Harris.'

Founder Feinzeig explained the reason for launching VCs for Kamala: 'Over the past few weeks, I've seen countless venture capitalists express their support for Donald Trump. While I've always respected many of them, there are much more fundamental issues at stake in this election.'

On the other hand, VCs for Kamala insisted that 'we are simply calling for people to vote for strong and trustworthy institutions, and are not implying any affiliation with any particular political party.'

'I am proud to sign VCs for Kamala. Signing VCs for Kamala is an investment in the future of our democracy,' said Hoffman.
