We tested whether a battery-powered compact cooler would perform well even in the hot sun.

The '

Battery-Compatible Compact Cooler (YBC-C04) ' from Yamazen's 'ELEIN' series of outlet-less home appliances is compact and easy to use, and its intended use scenarios include sleeping in a car or camping. SinceI found that it certainly blew out cool air indoors , I decided to try taking it outdoors.

I casually set up the battery-powered compact cooler on the grass. This time, I didn't attach a battery, so I connected it to a portable power source.

I turned the power on and it was running on 'cool air, weak' setting.

Without anything in the way, it was impossible to tell the temperature, so I measured it with a non-contact thermometer and the temperature around the main unit was about 32 degrees.

Using the 'FLIR ONE Pro' which can capture infrared thermography images, you can see how it looks when in use. While the area around the main unit is getting quite hot, a cool mass of air is formed around the cold air outlet.

The temperature near the cold air outlet was just under 29 degrees.

When I shot with the FLIR ONE Pro, the duct surface was about 40 degrees, but cold air below 30 degrees was blowing out from inside. Although the temperature drop was smaller than when used indoors, there was a difference of about 3 degrees from the outside air, so you could feel that 'cool air was coming.'

On the other hand, the exhaust vent was over 40 degrees and blew out obviously hot air.

When you look at it with the FLIR ONE Pro, you can see that it is scattering hot air around it. By attaching ducts on both sides, you can separate the cold air and exhaust outlets by about 2m, so you can cool down effectively by devising measures such as 'pulling only the cold air outlet inside the tent' and 'exhausting the exhaust through a duct through the car window'.

The temperature of the main unit is over 60 degrees.

The AC adapter was over 70 degrees, probably because it was black in color and tended to collect heat.

The portable power source that was connected was also black, so the temperature rose to about 64 degrees.

The operating sounds are as shown in the video below.

Furthermore, the standard design life of this battery-compatible compact cooler is five years, and the operating conditions are a temperature of 27 degrees and a humidity of 47%, so if used in a hot location like the one in this review, there is a risk of early failure.

The Yamazen ELEIN battery-compatible compact cooler is sold for 69,795 yen (tax included) on the official Yamazen online store.
