If copyrighted content is being used, YouTube's system will automatically detect it and file a claim. When you check the 'Copyright' box for the content in YouTube Studio, the content that is the subject of the claim will be displayed, so click 'SELECT ACTION'.
Previously, there were options to 'Replace song,' 'Trim out segment,' and 'Dispute,' but a new option, 'Erase song,' has been added.
By selecting 'Erase song,' it is possible to delete only the copyrighted background music. Audio other than background music, such as conversations and sound effects, can be left as is.
According to YouTube, they had previously tested a similar technology, but it was not very accurate at removing background music. So, by using a new AI-powered algorithm, they were able to remove specific music without affecting other audio.
However, YouTube states that 'if the song is difficult to remove, it may not work. If this tool doesn't work, you can try other editing options, such as muting all audio in the claimed section or cutting out the segment.'
