Google Search's infinite scroll feature will be discontinued

In Google Search, when you scroll down the search results page, more search results are loaded, allowing you to scroll the screen infinitely. This infinite scroll feature was introduced for mobile in October 2021 and for desktop in December 2022. However, this infinite scroll feature will be discontinued on the desktop and mobile versions, and the traditional format of pages separated by several search results will be reverted.

Google Search has a feature that allows you to scroll down the search results page to load more results continuously, so you can find the search results you want without having to go to the next page of search results. You can see how new search results load when you scroll down the page in the video below.

This infinite scrolling feature was introduced to the mobile version in October 2021 and the desktop version in December 2022, but was discontinued on the desktop version of Google Search from June 25, 2024 local time. In addition, Google has revealed that it plans to discontinue the infinite scrolling feature on the mobile version in July 2024.

In the desktop version of Google Search, where the infinite scroll feature has been abolished, when you scroll to the bottom of a search results page, a link to the next page appears under 'Related Searches.'

According to Google, this change is not intended to prevent search results that users have not explicitly requested from being automatically loaded, but rather to provide users with search results more quickly. Google also explained to search engine media Search Engine Land that 'we found that automatically loading more search results did not significantly increase Google search satisfaction.'
