Apple announced visionOS 2 , the next OS for Apple Vision Pro, during the keynote address of its annual developer conference ' WWDC24 ' held in June 2024. During the announcement, it was also mentioned that the company collaborated with Blackmagic Design to build a new video production workflow for spatial video content.

BlackMagic Design has also announced the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive, the first consumer camera designed to capture spatial video content for Apple Vision Pro. Although it is still under development at the time of writing, the exterior of the camera has already been revealed. The camera body is made of magnesium alloy and finished with a lightweight carbon fiber polycarbonate, and is said to be well-balanced and quick to move around on location.

Each camera has a resolution of 8160 x 7200 pixels and a dynamic range of 16 stops, allowing it to capture 8K stereoscopic spatial video at 90fps. It also has

12G-SDI output, 10G Ethernet, USB Type-C, and XLR audio .

Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive includes 8TB of high performance network storage and can record spatial video files to the dedicated Blackmagic Media Module for real-time sync to Blackmagic Cloud and

DaVinci Resolve editing software. This allows you to shoot over two hours of 8K stereoscopic spatial video and also allows editors to edit the files remotely. BlackMagic Design also announced an update to DaVinci Resolve that explains that it now supports editing of Apple's spatial video.

Additionally, images released by BlackMagic Design also show the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive mounted on a drone.

9to5Mac, an overseas media outlet, points out that the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive appears to be based on the Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K , which is sold for 2,578,000 yen at the time of writing, based on photos and specifications. However, they say that it is difficult to predict the exact price of the Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive because the exact feature set and cost of the twin lenses are unknown.

'We're thrilled to announce the world's first consumer camera system and post-production software that supports Apple Immersive Video, giving professional filmmakers the tools to tell amazing stories in this powerful new format developed by Apple,' said Grant Petty, CEO, BlackMagic Design. 'This revolutionary system enables filmmakers to capture amazing moments - action-packed scenes, unique perspectives, beautiful landscapes, intimate performances and more - with astonishing fidelity, creating unparalleled realism and immersion.'
