OpenAI Announces Updates to ChatGPT's Data Analysis Features, Including the Ability to Import Data Directly from Google Drive and OneDrive

On May 16, 2024, OpenAI announced an update to the data analysis function in ChatGPT. In addition to the ability to import data directly from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, new views for manipulating tables and graphs have been added, and the ability to create and download graphs has been added.

ChatGPT has the ability to analyze datasets and perform various tasks such as combining and cleaning large datasets, creating graphs, and providing insights in natural language, but to analyze data on cloud storage, it was necessary to 'download the file to your desktop once and then upload it to ChatGPT'.

After applying the update, you will be able to directly import various types of files from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, including spreadsheets, documents, slides, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Once you load your data, ChatGPT will create an interactive table that allows you to keep track of what is being analyzed and allows you to drill down into the analysis by clicking on specific areas to ask follow-up questions or select prompts suggested by ChatGPT.

You can now also customize bar, line, pie and scatter charts. You can ask additional questions or choose colors by hovering over the chart elements. There is also a button to download the chart you create for use in presentations and documents.

As with other ChatGPT features, ChatGPT Team and Enterprise users' data will not be used for training. ChatGPT Plus users can opt out by clicking 'Don't train on my content' in the privacy portal.

The updates announced today will be available in the next few weeks on the new flagship model, GPT-4o, for ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise users.
