Bloomberg has reported that Apple has opened new talks with OpenAI to power some of the new AI features coming to its iPhones and iPads, with Apple looking to integrate OpenAI's AI into iOS 18, according to people briefed on the matter.

Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, a regular leaker of Apple-related information, claims that the talks are centered on using OpenAI's technology to power an AI-based chatbot in iOS 18. It's unclear whether this chatbot refers to Apple's Siri or a new chatbot to replace Siri.

In addition, Apple-related media 9to5Mac discovered that the beta version of iOS 17.4 contains code for an AI model called 'SiriSummarization' at the end of January 2024. SiriSummarization calls the OpenAI ChatGPT API to test AI functions, summarizing text and answering questions.
