The Financial Times points out that one of the causes of the worsening numbers in the UK is the confusion caused by the government banning the use of communication equipment from Chinese manufacturer Huawei due to national security concerns.

Furthermore, in April 2023, the UK government announced that it had achieved its goal of ``delivering basic 5G networks to the majority of the population by 2027'', and by 2030, standalone 5G will be available nationwide. The new goal is to enable applications such as telemedicine and self-driving cars.
In response to this news on the social bulletin board site Reddit, AdamY_, who appears to be living in the UK, commented, ``Every time I visit other G7 countries, I am amazed at how fast and reliable the 5G network is.'' .
