Apple blocks message sending and receiving from the app 'Beeper Mini' that allows you to use iMessage on Android

Beeper Mini , an Android messenger app developed by reverse engineering Apple's original messaging app iMessage , is an app that allows users to participate in iMessage chats on Android devices using blue bubbles similar to messages from an iPhone. However, the Beeper Mini stopped transmitting and receiving on December 8, 2023, just three days after its release, and Apple confirmed that it had taken measures the following day on the 9th.

Messages sent from Beeper Mini are end-to-end encrypted, just like iMessage, and neither developer Beeper nor Apple can see what's inside. Also, the biggest feature of Beeper Mini is that messages from Android devices, which are normally displayed in green speech bubbles, are displayed in blue speech bubbles, just like messages from iPhones.

Regarding these features, Beeper CEO Eric Migikowski said, ``We jailbroken the iPhone and thoroughly investigated the OS to see how it works.''

However, on December 8, just three days after the release on December 5, 2023, Beeper reported that ``We are investigating an issue where Beeper Mini cannot send and receive messages.''

In fact, various users have reported that when trying to send and receive using Beeper Mini, an error message appears saying ``Search on server failed. Search request timed out.''

In addition, in response to a question from overseas media TechCrunch asking, ``Is it possible that Apple has found a way to block Beeper Mini's functionality?'' Migikowski replied, ``All the data we've seen confirms that's the case. It shows,” he said.

Then, on December 9, 2023, Apple announced, 'We have taken steps to protect our users by blocking techniques that abuse fake credentials to access iMessage,' and announced that Beeper Mini He revealed that he has taken steps to block messages from. Apple also points out that ``These apps posed significant risks to users' security and privacy, including the potential for metadata leaks, unsolicited messages, spam messages, and phishing attacks.''

Beeper said, ``We understand how difficult this is for everyone who has been using the Beeper Mini. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We hope to deliver good news soon.'' I posted it.

Beeper also reports that iMessage functionality is available in the chat app Beeper Cloud, which is available for MacOS, Windows, Android, etc.

Mr. Migikowski countered Apple's statement, saying, ``Compared to unencrypted SMS, Beeper Mini is working on enhanced security and messages sent and received are kept private.'' Ideally, Apple would be able to share the app's source code to confirm Beeper Mini's security measures.
