Microsoft announced new features that will be installed in Bing and features that will be introduced to the AI chatbot 'Copilot' on December 5, 2023 local time.

・Deep Search
Search engines like Bing and Google require users to type in the right search queries to get the results they want. But with Deep Search, the large-scale language model GPT-4 can augment the search queries users ask Bing and provide several answers related to the question.

For example, Microsoft has asked Bing a vague question: ``How does Japan's point card system work?''

Bing then rewrites the query with that question in mind, such as 'Japanese point card system,' 'best points cards for Japanese travelers,' and 'comparison of points programs by category in Japan,' and provides answers to each question. It will retrieve the search results.

Regarding the generated answers, Microsoft explains, ``How the various point card systems in Japan work, including their benefits, requirements, and limitations. We will include examples of the cards and compare the pros and cons of point cards with other payment methods in Japan. We will also highlight the most popular services and participating merchants.' I am.

Microsoft also says, ``This allows Deep Search to find results that cover different aspects of the query, even if the original keywords are not explicitly included.'' On the other hand, they report that ``Deep Search takes up to 30 seconds to obtain an answer, so there is room for improvement.''

At the time of article creation, Deep Search is being tested with some users, and the timing of release to general users has not been determined.

・Dall・E 3 update
Copilot allows image generation using OpenAI's image generation AI ' DALL・E 3 '. Regarding the image generation function, Yousaf Mahdi, Microsoft's EVP and Consumer Chief Marketing Officer, said, ``Further updates to DALL・E 3 will utilize Copilot to provide higher quality and more accurate response to prompts.'' 'Now we can generate images that look great.'

Below are images generated with the previous DALL・E 3 and images generated with the improved version of DALL・E 3. In both cases, the prompt ``A realistic stegosaurus is being cared for at a nail salon'' was entered.

The improved version of DALL・E 3 is already available for image generation services Image Creator and Copilot.

・Support for GPT-4 Turbo
The upgraded large-scale language model ``GPT -4 Turbo'' of GPT- 4 announced by OpenAI on November 6, 2023 will soon be available on Copliot. GPT-4 Turbo's 128,000- token context window allows you to tackle more complex and lengthy tasks, such as writing code that would be difficult with traditional large-scale language models.

Microsoft says, ``Support for GPT-4 Turbo is currently being tested with some users and will be rolled out to Copilot for general users in the coming weeks.''

・Code interpreter function
The code interpreter feature allows users to perform complex tasks such as precision calculations, coding, data analysis, visualization, and mathematics on Copilot. Microsoft says, ``Copliot generates code to respond to complex natural language requests, runs that code in a sandbox environment, and uses the results to deliver high-quality responses to users.'' We will provide it.'' 'You can also upload and download files between Copilot and users, and you can also enter your own data and code to interact with Bing search results.'

The code interpreter feature is being tested by some users at the time of writing, and Microsoft says, ``It will be widely available soon.''
