Meta Quest 3 quick exterior review where you can enjoy not only VR but also MR (mixed reality) without needing to connect to a PC
Meta Quest 3, a VR headset developed by Meta, which is focusing on the VR business, was released on October 10, 2023. Meta Quest 3 is a stand-alone device that allows you to enjoy VR without being connected to a PC or game console, and with the enhanced full-color pass-through function, you can also experience MR (mixed reality), which overlaps digital content with reality. They say they are evolving to be able to do it. First, I opened the package and carefully checked the Quest 3 itself and the included Touch Plus controller.

The Quest 3 package looks like this.
If you line it up with the Quest 2 package, you can see that it is considerably smaller.
The set includes ``Meta Quest 3 headset'', ``Standard prefix (installed)'', ``2 Meta Quest Touch Plus controllers'', ``2 wrist straps (installed)'', ``Power adapter'', ``Charging cable'', ``AA batteries''. Two'
Remove the cosmetic case and pull out the inner box.
When you open the inner box, a headset and Quest Touch Plus controller appear.
A view of the headset from the front. It has 3 rows of sensor cameras. It's a little hard to tell from the image, but the Meta logo is engraved on the top.
A photo taken close to the sensor camera part. Of the three slits, the left and right were translucent and I could see the sensors and cameras built into them.
The left side. There is a USB-C port at the base of the band. The prefix is a rubber band.
There was a power button and a camera at the bottom of the left side of the headset.
Technical compliance marks are written on the inside of the band on the left side.
There is a 3.5mm audio terminal on the band part on the right side.
The bottom looks like this. The nose part is gaping, and the eyepiece part is a cushion. There is a volume button, a terminal for use with a dedicated charger, and a dial for adjusting the interpupillary distance.
I took a look inside the headset.
Peel off the sticker affixed to the lens.
Quest 3 uses a pancake lens instead of a Fresnel lens. The lens surface has no concentric steps and is smooth.
The area around the lens is made of a silicone-like material, and when you turn a dial to adjust the interpupillary distance, the lens moves from side to side.
There is a button on the inside side of the visor part. By pressing this button and moving the visor part, you can adjust the size of the headset's internal space in four levels.
The actual weight of the headset part was 514g.
This is the Quest Touch Plus controller. Unlike the Quest Touch controller that came with the previous generation Quest 2, the large ring-shaped tracking sensor is gone.
The weight was 125g for one side.
The left operation panel has an analog stick, option button, X button, and Y button.
The right control panel has the B button, A button, analog stick, and Meta button.
The right side of the Quest Touch Plus controller (left) looks like this.

While pressing the button surrounded by the red frame, move the cover on the grip to reveal the AA battery space.
The back of the Quest Touch Plus controller looks like this.
There was another box inside the inner box, so I took it out.
Inside is a power adapter, charging cable, instruction manual, and safety and warranty guide.
The power adapter was 18W.
