Illustrator Katria Laden pointed out that Loki's promotional visuals include AI-generated content. 'I'm very disappointed that Disney is using an AI-generated image to promote Loki,' he wrote on X.
Madly disappointed they're using AI generated imagery to promote Loki. https://t.co/SFhWpQfWE7

The visual in question is as follows.
On the clock face in the background of Loki, there are things like 'crushed letters' in addition to Roman numerals. It is pointed out that this is a meaningless wavy line that is a transformation of Roman numerals, and ``this is a distinct feature of images generated by AI.''
The clock with Roman numerals in the background of Loki is from the photo stock site Shutterstock . Although this image is not labeled as AI-generated, another image uploaded by the same poster also shows 'signs of an AI-generated image.' It seems that it will be done.
According to Shutterstock's content policy , only images generated by image generation AI tools trained in Shutterstock's library can be submitted without an AI-generated label.
Therefore, the reason why Disney used this image is ``if they did not realize that the image was created by AI'' or ``if they did not care that the image was created by AI.'' In any case, the overseas media Mashable points out that ``this is a bad example that will irritate creators who are facing difficulties due to the rise of AI.''
Here's the AI generated stock image found in the promo. I'm not sure this makes the situation much better, they should be vetting this.

With the rise of image generation AI, it has become possible for even people who can't draw to easily generate high-quality images, and it has been reported that the jobs of creators such as illustrators are being taken over by AI . 'Many hard-working artists have made a living by posting photos and illustrations on stock sites,' Laden said. ``I don't think it's logical to replace the wages of people with the products of technology (generated AI) that steals them,'' he said, criticizing the use of AI.
One X user said, ``Disney and Marvel don't seem to be interested in actual art these days. All they have is content.I haven't seen Loki season 2 yet, so this point is a bit of an issue for Loki season 2. 'Please don't take this as a criticism. Disney's use of AI is truly disappointing and does not bode well for [creators].'
It's almost like there's no interest in actual art coming from Disney/Marvel these days. Only content...

Don't mistake that for criticism of Loki Season 2 because I haven't seen it yet, but this is really disappointing and doesn't bode well imo
In addition, Disney revealed that the opening video of the MCU drama series ` `Secret Invasion '' distributed on Disney + was created using AI, which caused a lot of attention. In particular, many negative opinions about Disney and Marvel's creative use of AI have been received from creators and people who oppose the creation of images and videos using generative AI.

In response to this, some said, ``I can't believe they're doing the same thing again despite being criticized for using AI in Secret Invasion. It's a shame.''
I can't believe they are doing it again after Secret Invasion. Disappointing.

Shutterstock's AI tools and Adobe Firefly are trained with proprietary libraries, so the use of the generated content is legally protected. However, the ethical question of whether it is right to replace creative work with AI still remains.
