According to analysis by app research firm Sensor Tower, X's revenue has been on the rise overall since Twitter was rebranded to X on July 24, 2023. In the first week after the change, X's overall revenue decreased by about 3% compared to the previous week, but in the second and third weeks (August 6-20), revenue increased by about 25%. This is mainly due to revenue from iOS (up 24%).

On the other hand, the number of weekly active users in the second and third weeks decreased by about 4%, and the number of downloads decreased by about 8%. X's app download ranking dropped four places to 36th in the general category.

Around this time, due to rebranding, even if you searched for 'Twitter' in the app store, Twitter would not appear, and only the light version of the Twitter application 'Twitter Lite' would be displayed. As a result, many users downloaded Twitter Lite, and the number of Twitter Lite downloads increased by about 350% in the first week after the change.

Sensor Tower points out that rebranding also affected competing services, leading to a drop in Threads downloads of about 70% in the first week after the change. On the other hand, the number of Bluesky downloads increased by about 180%, and the number of Mastodon downloads increased by about 15%, indicating that users who escaped from X were trying other companies' services.

However, from week 2 to week 3, Threads downloads increased by about 50%, Bluesky downloads decreased by 25%, and Mastodon downloads decreased by 40%. For this reason, TechCrunch, a technology media, pointed out that ``competitive services are not functioning as an alternative to X.''
