Chicago-based magician Danny Orleans flew from Chicago to New York to perform magic in New York. In the bag I deposited before boarding, it was said that the sound equipment necessary for the magic show was equivalent to $ 1,500 (about 210,000 yen).
Mr. Orleans who took a United Airlines flight and arrived at the airport in New York and tried to pick up his bag. However, even if I waited at the baggage claim turntable, my bag never came.
So, Mr. Orleans remembered that he had an AirTag in his bag, and when he checked the location with the 'Search' app, it turned out that the bag was still on the tarmac. Orleans then went to United Airlines customer service and told them the bag was on the tarmac. However, the customer service receptionist replied, 'Mr. Orleans' bag has not been checked in and is not in New York.'
So Mr. Orleans showed his iPhone to the receptionist and claimed that the bag was in New York and was still on the airport tarmac. However, the receptionist replied, 'There is nothing United Airlines can do. The bag will be sent to the hotel within 5 business days.'
Naturally, Mr. Orleans was not convinced, and decided, 'If United Airlines does not move, I will find my bag myself.' When I checked the location of the bag in detail with the 'Search' app, I found that the bag was likely to be near Gate 90 for some reason, even though Mr. Orians' plane landed at Gate 113.
However, Mr. Orleans had already left the baggage claim area, so it was necessary to purchase a ticket again to return to the vicinity of the airport gate. Since the magic show absolutely needed the audio equipment in his bag, Mr. Orleans purchased a fully refundable airline ticket to Boston on the spot, went through security, and headed to Gate 90. And when he looked out the window of Gate 90, he saw his bag on the tarmac.
Below is a picture taken by Mr. Orleans of the scenery actually seen from the window. The black object surrounded by red marks is Mr. Orleans' bag.
Mr. Orleans said, 'The bag was just sitting on the tarmac. The most annoying thing was that someone passed in front of the bag when I was looking at it, but it was my job to receive the bag.
Mr. Orleans caught a nearby United Airlines employee and explained the situation. The employee said, ``I have never encountered such a thing before,'' and said that he went to pick up his bag. Ultimately, Mr. Orleans was able to receive the bag four hours after arriving at the airport in New York.
Mr. Orleans said, 'Everything went well, I'm really happy, it was a really wonderful trip to see the luggage on the tarmac.' In addition, Mr. Orleans received an email from United Airlines at a later date saying, 'I'm currently searching for the bag you lost at the airport, so I'll contact you if I find it.'
