The Dyson Zone headphones with air purification function do not compromise on sound quality and have excellent noise canceling performance, taking you to a world of silence.

Dyson Zone , which was released by Dyson in May 2023, supports noise canceling using eight microphones, allowing you to be surrounded by silence even in a noisy environment by simply putting it on. Furthermore, in addition to being equipped with a large 40mm driver, it is said that they are particular about comfort, so in order to check the acoustic performance of Dyson Zone and the effect on the sound when the air purification function is turned on, we actually conducted a test. I put it on and listened to music.

◆Sound quality check when using only headphones
When Dyson Zone is combined with the management app ' MyDyson ,' you can select three sound quality settings: 'Enhanced,' which sharpens the high range, 'Bass Boost,' which also emphasizes the low range, and 'Neutral,' which emphasizes balance. Masu.

First, I tried listening to music while switching the sound quality settings with the noise canceling function turned off. Comparing 'Neutral' and 'Bass Boost', you can see that 'Bass Boost' increases the amount of bass, but it does not result in the situation where 'the bass sound is too emphasized and other sounds are hidden'. It feels like the bass is amplified while maintaining the overall sound. There was little difference between 'Enhanced' and 'Neutral'.

Dyson Zone has a noise canceling function using eight microphones, and by tapping the headphones twice you can choose between an 'isolation' mode that blocks out surrounding sounds and a 'transparency' mode that lets in surrounding sounds. Switchable. There is no specific place to tap, you can tap anywhere, whether it's on the ear cup or on the headband.

In 'Isolation' mode, it almost completely blocks out noises such as air conditioners, ventilation fans, and the sound of hot water boiling, and I didn't hear the white noise that often occurs with noise canceling functions. 'Transparency' allows you to hear small sounds such as typing on a keyboard in addition to surrounding conversations. What's especially great is that the way you hear the music doesn't change even if you switch between 'isolation' and 'transparency.' Some headphones with an external sound capture mode have the problem that ``music becomes sparse when the external sound capture mode is enabled'', but Dyson Zone has ``isolation'' and ``transparency''. Whichever you choose, you can always enjoy music in high quality.

The Dyson Zone weighs 589g with just the headphones, so before I put them on, I thought that my ears and head would hurt if I wore them for a long time, but the shape of the headband and ear cups fit my face perfectly. Perhaps because it was a good fit, even though I had to wear it over my glasses, which was a disadvantage, I didn't feel any pain even after wearing it for about 6 hours.

You can use the joystick mounted on the right ear to play, pause, adjust volume, skip, and cue music. You can operate it using only the joystick, so you can operate it without losing concentration on the music or work. Another good point is that you don't have to turn the power on or off, as it will automatically go to sleep just by removing it from your head, and automatically wake up from sleep when you put it on.

◆Sound quality when the shield is attached and the air purification function is turned on
The biggest feature of Dyson Zone is that you can send purified air to your nose and mouth by attaching the shield.

Since the fan installed in the housing operates when sending air, I checked to see if the fan noise affected the sound quality.

The air purification function's air volume can be adjusted in four levels: ``OFF'', ``Low'', ``Medium'', and ``High'', as well as ``AUTO'', which automatically adjusts the air volume according to the intensity of the user's movements. If you set the air volume to ``Low'' while the music is stopped, even in ``Isolation'' mode, you will hear a fan-like motor noise. However, once you play music, the fan noise becomes almost unnoticeable. If you set the air volume to 'High', you will hear a fairly loud fan noise when the music is stopped, but this will no longer be bothersome if you play music.

When using the Dyson Zone with the music stopped, there will be some noticeable noise when the air volume is set to 'high,' but when the music is playing, it will hardly be bothersome. For this reason, when using Dyson Zone with the air volume set to 'high', we recommend that you also enjoy music at the same time.

◆Can the fan noise be cut during voice calls?
Dyson Zone is also equipped with a microphone for audio collection, and can be used as a headset for video conferencing and voice calls. I was worried that the fan noise might be mixed in with the call audio, so I recorded the audio recorded without a shield and the audio recorded with the shield installed while switching the air volume to OFF, LOW, MEDIUM, and HIGH. I created a comparison movie. When you play the movie, you can see that the fan sound is not mixed in with the audio at any setting, and the fan sound can be effectively cut. However, when the air volume is set to 'high', the voice sounds muffled, probably because some of the human voices are also cut when cutting the fan noise. For this reason, when using Dyson Zone as a headset, it is recommended to keep the air volume to 'medium'.
