A feature of the Ryzen 7000X3D series is that it incorporates 3D V-Cache technology. As the name suggests, 3D V-Cache technology is a technology that increases the memory cache installed in the CPU, and by pasting SRAM (V-Cache) for cache on the CPU, the capacity of the L3 cache increases. The 3D V-Cache technology itself is installed in the ' Ryzen 7 5800X3D ' released in April 2022.



The Ryzen 9 7950X3D features an asymmetric chiplet design where one of the CCDs (CPU dies) is a regular Zen4 CCD while the other Zen 4 CCD features a 64MB V-Cache. This means that one CCD has a 32MB L3 cache and the other has a 96MB L3 cache.

Also, attaching a V-Cache to the CCD limits the maximum clock speed, limiting it to around 5.25GHz. This V-Cache is the reason why the base frequency of Ryzen 9 7950X3D is slightly lower than that of Ryzen 9 7950X. Therefore, AMD designs to access the appropriate CCD according to the processing of the application. By using a CCD with V-Cache and an ordinary CCD, it is balanced so that performance can be maximized when performing multiple tasks simultaneously. In addition, 'AMD PPM Provisioning File Driver' has a function to automatically distinguish CCDs that can process at higher speed during game operation, pause one CCD and perform processing on the other.
