◆Various benchmark results
Below are the results of AnandTech running the benchmark software 'Cinebench R23' on a machine equipped with Ryzen 7 8700G and Ryzen 5 8600G. In the single-threaded test, Ryzen 7 8700G scored 1698 points and Ryzen 5 8600G scored 1760 points. In terms of single-thread performance, the lower model Ryzen 5 8600G slightly exceeds the higher model Ryzen 7 8700G.
In the multi-threaded test, Ryzen 7 8700G scored 17,539 points and Ryzen 5 8600G scored 13,424 points. Both models score higher than the previous generation model.
Below is a graph comparing the number of frames processed per second when performing AVI encoding. The Ryzen 7 8700G could process 417.02 images per second, and the Ryzen 5 8600G could process 349.31 images per second. Ryzen 5 8600G has recorded higher performance than the previous generation top model Ryzen 7 5700G.
The result of Windows Central running 'Geekbench 6' is like this. Ryzen 7 8700G's single-core score is 2765 points and multi-core score is 14,383 points. Ryzen 5 8600G's single-core score is 2589 points and multi-core score is 10,504 points.
◆Gaming performance
The average frame rate when playing 'Cyberpunk 2077' at 1080p with medium quality settings is below. Ryzen 7 8700G is 27.4fps and Ryzen 5 8600G is 22.7fps. It doesn't seem to be comfortable as it drops below 30fps. However, Ryzen 7 8700G seems to be able to play at 37.2fps if you enable the super resolution function ' AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) '.
TechSpot reports the average and lowest fps while playing multiple games on the Ryzen 7 8700G. 'Baldur's Gate 3' was able to be played at an average of 49 fps at 1080p and low quality settings. The previous generation Ryzen 7 5700G averaged 20fps, so this is a big improvement.
When playing 'Counter-Strike 2' at 1080p and medium quality settings, the average frame rate on Ryzen 7 8700G was 119fps. A 60Hz monitor seems to be able to play quite comfortably.
'Fortnite' averages 132fps at 1080p and low quality settings. Although the image quality will be lower, you can still play while taking full advantage of the performance of your 120Hz monitor.
◆AI performance
Ryzen 7 8700G and Ryzen 5 8600G have a built-in NPU in addition to the CPU and GPU. However, according to AnandTech, at the time of writing the article, there is no benchmark tool that can effectively utilize AMD's NPU. Therefore, AnandTech is conducting performance verification that does not depend on NPU.
Below are the results of measuring the speed of image processing using the machine learning library 'TensorFlow'. The Ryzen 7 8700G processes 9.06 images per second, and the Ryzen 5 8600G processes 7.31 images per second, more than twice the performance of the previous generation model.
The results of running the inference performance measurement mode of the benchmark software 'UL Procyon' are below. Ryzen 7 8700G had 89,650 inferences, and Ryzen 5 8600G had 95,541 inferences.
◆Power consumption
Below are the results of measuring the power consumption on a machine configured with the APU as 'Ryzen 7 8700G', the motherboard as 'Asus ROG Strix B650-A Gaming WiFi', and the memory as '32GB DDR5-6400'. It drew 41W at idle, 79W during Cinebench's single-threaded test, 131W during the multi-threaded test, and 148W while playing Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered.
The Ryzen 8000G series is scheduled to be released in Japan at 11:00 on February 2, 2024.
