On iOS, by selecting 'Add to Home Screen' from the share menu while browsing a web page in Safari, you can add an icon that allows you to access the website at once to the home screen. However, until now, there was only a function that ``can access the website in one shot'', and it was not possible to receive notifications.

According to the official blog of the rendering engine 'WebKit' installed in Safari, iOS 16.4 and iPadOS 16.4 support web push, and it will be possible to send notifications to users from the website. Notifications sent via web push appear on the lock screen and notification center just like regular app notifications. Of course, users can also choose to turn notifications on or off like any other app.

In addition, iOS 16.4 and iPadOS 16.4 will release the 'Add to Home Screen' function to third-party browsers. As a result, users of Chrome and Firefox can easily use the 'Add to Home Screen' function.

The new web push feature has been tested in beta for iOS 16.4 and iPadOS 16.4 and will be available to general users when iOS 16.4 and iPadOS 16.4 are officially released.
